Augusta Vital Records Database Search
Description: The Vital Records Database is an index of births, marriages, deaths and other significant announcements printed in the Augusta Chronicle newspaper. The time period covered is 1982 – 2008 (some records from 1981 are available).
Searching Tips: You may search using any or all of the visible fields.
Ex: A name search may be combined with a date or type of event to increase the accuracy of your search.
Name, Spouse: The database will return all records matching the string entered.
Ex: Doe returns all records with a last name of Doe.; Doe, J returns John Doe, Jane Doe, etc.; Doe, Jane returns all records with a name of Jane Doe
Event Date, Source Date: You may enter any or all of the date part fields.
Ex: Entering 12 in the month box will return all records from December. Entering 2001 in the year box will return all records from 2001. Entering a 25 in the day box will return all records from the 25th day of every month of every year. Entering 12 in the month field, leaving the day field blank, and entering 2001 in the year field will return all records from December of 2001. Entering 12 in the month box, 25 in the day box, and 2001 in the year box will return all records with a date of December 25, 2001
Event, Source: Choose from the dropdown list of available options
Ex: Select only one option from the dropdown list. To see records from any source or event select ‘All’.
Search Button: Executes search with criteria entered.
Reset Button: Will clear all search fields
Stored Records: Contain the Name, Spouse’s Name (if available), Date of Event, Date of the Newspaper, Page, and Column.
Copies of Articles: You may obtain full copies of articles from the Augusta-Richmond County Library or The Augusta Chronicle Newspaper. Please present the printed record of the desired article to the staff.
