Summer Reading Program

June 1 – August 3

Register at arcpls.beanstack.org beginning June 1, 2024

Richmond County residents of all ages are invited to participate in our annual Summer Reading Program.  This year’s theme is Adventure Begins at Your Library.  Read, earn prizes (while supplies last), and participate in a variety of fun and free programs over the summer!  You may even win one of our weekly drawings!

You can register at arcpls.beanstack.org and at all Augusta-Richmond County Public Library System (ARCPLS) locations starting June 1, 2024.  All participants can log their activities virtually at arcpls.beanstack.org or on a paper log that can be obtained at any of our six locations starting June 1, 2024.  

Registration & Rules:

Register at arcpls.beanstack.org or at any of our locations. Need help registering or forgot your password from last year?  Call Headquarters or your local library branch, and we’ll be happy to assist you. 

Ages 0-18. 

  • Kids ages 0-18 are encouraged to read or be read to at least 20 minutes a day throughout the summer. 
  • After logging 200 minutes of reading, kids earn a free book or comic up to 3 times over the summer (while supplies last). 
  • Kids who read or are read to at least 600 minutes by August 3rd will receive a completion prize (while supplies last) and will be entered to win grand prizes! To be eligible for the grand prizes, entries logged into Beanstack and paper logs must be submitted no later than Saturday, August 3rd.  The grand prize drawings will be held on Monday, August 12th
  • Completion prizes must be collected by Saturday, August 17th
  • Log reading at arcpls.beanstack.org. or on the Beanstack app.  You can also pick up a paper log at any ARCPLS location.
  • Listening to audiobooks also counts as reading.  Your library card gives access to free audiobooks, e-books, and e-magazines via the Libby app as well as access to free audiobooks and e-books on eRead Kids.  
  • Kids who exceed the goal of reading 600 minutes will have a chance of winning a special prize for the most minutes read over the summer. 

Ages 19 and older.

Grown-ups can participate in the fun too!  

  • Read at least 20 minutes a day (includes listening to audiobooks) with the goal of reading for 600 minutes between June 1-August 3. 
  • Log reading at arcpls.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack app.  You can also pick up a paper log at any ARCPLS location.
  • Once you have completed a goal, you can visit any of our locations to pick up your prize (while supplies last). You will also be entered into the grand prize drawing. To be eligible for the grand prizes, entries logged into Beanstack and paper logs must be submitted by Saturday, August 3rd.  The grand prize drawings will be held on Monday, August 12th. Completion prizes must be collected by Saturday, August 17th

Programs 

Attend programs at Headquarters, at your neighborhood branch, as well as virtually. Programming will include live animals, hands-on science, crafts and more!  Go to arcpls.org/events/ to see our full event calendar.

Special Events  

  • Our Summer Reading Book Bash/Kickoff will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Pendleton King Park (1600 Troupe Street, Augusta, GA 30904) from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. There will be hotdogs from Lanier’s Fresh Meat Market, icy treats from Ice Cream Island, a petting zoo from Wallace’s Farm, games, and more!
